Bonita Pioneer - Art Guidelines



BLEED Provide 1/2" artwork beyond the printed area of mechanical artwork. CAMERA READY ART Clean, color separated art, which is ready to be turned into negatives. Photocopies, Fax and Laser Copies are not considered camera ready art. DOT AND LINE GAIN All printed pieces will experience 20-30% dot and/or line gain. This means the print will get heavier, reverse		POSITIVE PRINTING The minimum positive printing type size is 8 point Helvetica bold and the minimum positive line width is 1 point. REVERSE PRINTING The minimum reverse printing type size is 12 point Helvetica boldface and minimum line width is 2 point.

ELECTRONIC ART Bonita Pioneer accepts electronic artwork in the following Macintosh Programs: Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design and Freehand (Freehand files must be saved in EPS format) Please include all fonts and placed images used with the file. Please include a written description of the disk. We accept emails, CDs and DVDs (saved for Mac use). Electronic templates are available. FOUR COLOR PROCESS Bonita Pioneer can print 4-color process, on Shopping Bags, Gift Wrap and Boxes. Special Flexographic considerations are necessary and are to be discussed on an individual per job basis. Please contact a Bonita Pioneer Customer Service Representative @ 1-800-677-7725. GIFT WRAP ARTWORK All gift wrap art should be set up to have a 15", 18", or 20" repeat top to bottom and also include a side to side repeat as we will need to strip it to accommodate different roll widths. GUSSET ARTWORK Due to movement in printing and bag conversion all artwork should be kept 1/4" from the edge of the bag. The front of the bag should bleed 1/4" into the gusset. Electronic templates are available showing bleed area. NEGATIVES/PLATES Bonita Pioneer prefers to make its own plates. When supplying negatives as artwork they should be Matte Finished, Right Reading, Emulsion Up. Bonita does not accept film work on 4-color process or projects with complex screening.		TRAP When two or more colors need to appear like they touch, an overprint of 1/16" (or 2 points) must be used to prevent gaps in the printing. When trapping colors to a rule the overprinting outline must be at least 2.5 points in width to trap the colors. SCREENS / HALFTONES / DUOTONES At Bonita Pioneer screens and solids should be printed on separate decks to prevent filling (and are priced as separate colors). Line Screen capabilities are determined by the project and the product. We recommend running solids whenever possible and must approve all screen work prior to acceptance of the order. Additional charges may be incurred when using screens, please inquire. UPC CODES UPC Codes should be supplied 110% magnification with .004 bar width reduction. Printing UPC codes on dark papers is not suggested. We recommend all UPC Codes be printed in black. Printing UPC codes on a white block may be necessary for scanning. WEB MOVEMENT Copy/Print may shift in the converting process up to 3/16". Stopping art directly on edges is not recommended - see Gusset Artwork Guidelines.
